St. Joseph Church

Where faith and family are one.

Welcome

St. Joseph’s Parish has been a part of the Ambler community since 1920. Since then our parish has had a rich heritage of strong faith. Through faithfullness and togetherness, we share in our love of God and love of others and would like to welcome you to our website and our church.

All are welcome in this place.

Adult Ministry

On Sundays during the school year, we offer Hispanic adults a weekly study of the Bible and Catechism in Spanish.  This class is held in the parish office at Saint Anthony’s from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, and prepares participants to receive the sacraments of initiation and to promote spiritual growth in those who are already full members of the Church.

English speaking adults who wish to receive baptism, first Holy Communion or confirmation are welcome to call the parish center so that they can attend OCIA classes at Saint Anthony’s Parish.

Family & Youth Ministry

Registration is about to begin for PREP 2025-2026.

Live in-person religious instruction will be offered for grades K to 8 on Sundays from September 14, 2025 through May 3, 2026 from 10:15 AM to 11:30 AM in St. Anthony’s Education Center, 260 Forest Ave., Ambler 19002.

As a reminder, traffic is one way on Forest Ave. on Sundays.

Hispanic Ministry

Saint Joseph’s Parish has a significant number of Hispanic families and as such, has a Spanish-speaking deacon on staff (Deacon Mark Kuhn) to attend to the needs of this community. Almost 85% of the students in our PREP program are Hispanic, so Deacon Kuhn assists the director of religious education in her outreach to the parents, many of whom cannot speak English. While the PREP program is in session on Sunday morning, he also conducts a Bible study in Spanish, which also includes catechesis for adults who are preparing to receive their sacraments of initiation. He also conducts prenuptial investigations for people preparing to marry in the church, baptism preparation classes for parents preparing to have a child baptized, and for teenagers preparing to celebrate their Quinceañeras.

Liturgy and Music

Liturgy and music are connected within the Mass. Music is used to enhance the worship with the congregation and glorify God through the expression of our prayers. Many varieties are permitted with traditional uses of instruments such as organ, piano, guitar and other accompaniments.
